PERRY JOHNSON SURGING

We’ve said it before, polling with 42-44 undecideds are hazy at best. That said (again), two late March and early April polls show an amazing gain by Bloomfield Hills multi-millionaire Perry Johnson in terms of name identification. As a point of reference, back in February of this year, 1892 Polling firm results (40 percent undecided) had John James at 40 percent and Johnson at four percent. In a more recent polling by the same firm, with 42 percent undecided, James was at 26 percent and Johnson was at 21 percent. Similar results were produced in a poll by JMC Analytics & Polling. James came in at 23 percent and Johnson was at 20 percent, with 44 percent undecided. In the same poll, Mike Cox was at six percent; Aric Nesbitt, five percent; and Tom Leonard at three percent. The rise in the 78-year-old Johnson’s polling results shows what $10 million in self-funded media purchases will buy a candidate.
