Nikki (Nicolette) Snyder, a registered nurse from Dexter Michigan who was elected with 1.9 million votes in 2016 to the State Board of Education, is the first Republican to formerly announce for the race to fill the seat of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow. Some may recognize Snyder's name from the past when she tried in 2020 to run against U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin but could not make the ballot due to insufficient signatures. She raised a total of just over $41,000 before dropping out then. FEC records show the formation on February 16 of this year of the Friends of Nikki Snyder committee for the U.S. Senate race.
