BIG (UNANSWERED) QUESTION

We talked to a number of party insiders and professional prognosticators and no one seems to have a definitive answer as to whether Republican voters cast ballots in the U.S. Senate Democratic race to vote for Abdul Al-Sayed. That’s always a concern in states like Michigan that conduct an “open” primary in which voters do not have to declare a party before casting ballots. And there’s general agreement that Republican voters were less thrilled about their primary choices so it’s possible Republican voters cast ballots in the Democratic primary, in most cases throwing support behind El-Sayed. That would fit with the Republican-leaning groups placing broadcast ads promoting El-Sayed who some felt would be the easier candidate for a Republican like Rogers to beat come November 3. With the Dem primary victor winning by only about one point, anything is possible.
