FACING OFF

The transformation is complete. Former Congressman David Trott of Birmingham, once a staunch and lifelong Republican, announced in a text message that “I have officially given up on the Republican Party!” Trott, who held the 11th District seat before Haley Stevens turned the long-time Republican congressional district blue, left Congress in 2018 frustrated with MAGA and Republicans’ obsequiousness towards President Donald Trump. The former tax and foreclosure attorney, who spends part of the year in Sarasota, Florida, hosted a reception supporting Democratic Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat strongly looking at running for president in 2028, on August 5, along with his wife Kappy and David and Anessa Kramer, at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
